Driving from SD to MX: Go through San Ysidro border crossing, make sure to take the “toll” route that goes along the coast and bring pesos! You will need to pay in cash to go through the toll stalls. Make sure to purchase short-term Mexico auto insurance like BajaBound
Getting back to the US:
If everyone has sentri/global entry, getting through the border will be a breeze. If not, we recommend leaving early Monday morning for general lanes or, whoever in your vehicle doesn’t have global entry or sentri can walk across.
we are looking into a "medical pass" which allows you to cut the line a good amount (it costs $) - stay tuned
Flying in, two options:
We suggest you fly into TJ if flights are affordable and use this shuttle transport service: https://bajaexcursion.com/shop/one-way-transportation/tijuana-rosarito-transportation-one-way/?srsltid=AfmBOop5jy_fjK92HYYPhZUpJzYAk_UgIuSnHBqEgvjdQpbCLSPt7FuQ
2. If flying into SD is better, there are a couple options such as: https://www.citycaptain.com/
They will curbside pickup/drop off - this includes a “medical short-cut pass” to get back through the border quickly - easiest, but most expensive option
More Cost effective, but more difficult - Uber from SD Airport to San Ysidro border, walk through the border, and take an uber from San Ysidro Border crossing to Las Gaviotas (MX$260-700) [$14-40 USD].
Getting back to the US:
If going the shuttle route, we recommend scheduling a pickup for as early as possible to avoid long wait times
Pro tip, ask if they can get you a medical pass to skip the general line (costs $)
If taking Uber to the border, we recommend scheduling early Monday morning, which you will then get dropped off at the border and walk across.
Unless we have already reached out regarding this specifically, please do not bring a plus one. Chances are we love them too, but we are trying to be extremely intentional about who is coming. Las Gaviotas also has a strict guest policy and check how many people are coming through the gates per-home.
Most of the weekend, we plan on being in our swimsuits/trunks, soaking up some UVs, but for the evenings and ceremony, think coastal casual.
For the "wedding day ceremony," summer dresses, short sleeve button downs for the fellas, shoes discouraged, but if you need to protect the dogs, we get it!
Bring some sunscreen, we'll be sure to bring extra as well.
If you are driving from SoCal to LG, we ask that you bring some groceries for breakfast, lunch. We plan on hosting dinners, as well as doing a big grocery run for anyone who does not have a car.
There are also local grocery stores closeby in case you want to stock up with any other provisions!
Let us know if you don't have a car and we can help stock up your home.
Lastly, in case you decide to explore out of the community, directly outside of the gated community are some great spots to grab a bite to eat!
